President's Robots: 5 stats from the last week's White House report

Five robotics stats from the Economic Report of the President.

Economic Report of the President was published last week. For the first time ever it had a whole chapter on robotics. Some stats in there are non-trivial.

  • $20hr jobs have 83% chance of being automated. 31% for $20-40 and just 4% for >$40hr.

  • $12-$18/hr jobs are disappearing fast. $12 jobs are growing - these are mostly jobs requiring physical presence.

  • 29% of jobs now require occupational license of some sort. This is now a very significant barrier. Licensed workers make 10-15% more.

  • $15b is the size of 2014 on-demand economy according PwC. McKinsey Global Institute predicts +$2.7 trillion to global GDP by 2025 form on-demand economy.

  • Productivity growth has slowed from it's highest in mid-20th century.

Interesting read overall, very bullish on growth.
